Spiritual Emergence Network now part of the Grof Foundation

Announcement 12 February 2015

I am very excited that the board of the Grof Foundation decided to provide a home for the US Spiritual Emergence Network, guaranteeing its revival and growth.
And I know that Christina would have been very moved that this will be the first major endeavor of the foundation that bears our name. I hope that those of you who understand the importance of this project will consider giving it your support.
– Stanislav Grof, M.D. January, 2015

Do you know someone who has struggled to integrate a difficult psychedelic experience or been overwhelmed by a psychological-spiritual crisis?
Christina Grof founded the Spiritual Emergence Network in 1980 to make sure that these people—people experiencing “spiritual emergency”—get the compassionate care they need.
Since then, SEN has flourished in many parts of the world, providing referrals to a carefully-selected list of practitioners who can honor the depth and value of such experiences, and can help people integrate these experiences in a meaningful way.

In the last few years, however, SEN in the United States has been ‘homeless’ – functioning on a shoestring and surviving only through the extraordinary personal dedication of its director, Ted Esser.

That’s why the newly formed Grof Foundation has decided, as our first formal commitment, to provide a home for US SEN as part of our new organization.

Although we plan to collaborate with SEN organizations in other countries, right now, our clear and urgent goal is to help US SEN. By the end of this year, we will:

> Reduce waiting times by 300%
We want everyone who contacts SEN to get help quickly. Due to staff shortages, however, people who need help in the US can wait up to 72 hours for a referral. That’s why, this year, our goal is to reduce the waiting time to no more than 24 hours.

> Expand the network of providers by 100%
We want to ensure that everyone who needs help can find a support person nearby. But currently, there are many locations in the US completely unserved. That’s why our goal is to make sure that, within the year, there is an SEN-listed provider in every US state … as well as every US city with more than 250,000 people.

Of course, this is just the beginning.

We hope you agree it is a great start.

Note that if you want to get involved and help SEN flourish, there will be a call for volunteers and professional members soon.

In the meantime, however, this initiative will only be successful with your financial help.

Anything at all you can give right now will be of great value.
